BMS 2025-26: Bulldog Ready Summit Helps 8th Graders Experience Real-World Financial Decisions

March 11, 2026

Batesville Middle School eighth-grade students took an important step toward becoming #BulldogReady during the annual Bulldog Ready Summit, a hands-on event designed to introduce students to the realities of adult financial responsibilities.

During the summit, students assumed the role of a 27-year-old adult and worked through a variety of real-life financial decisions. They experienced the “sticker shock” of grocery shopping, calculated income taxes, and considered the costs associated with housing, utilities, transportation, and other everyday expenses. Some students also encountered unexpected financial challenges and had to make difficult budgeting decisions, including taking out loans to meet their expenses.

While the experience required careful planning and problem-solving, it also created opportunities for meaningful conversations and connections between students and community volunteers.

The Bulldog Ready Summit is designed to help students build awareness of financial literacy, budgeting, and responsible decision-making as they prepare for future independence.

The Batesville Community School Corporation extends sincere appreciation to the many community volunteers who gave their time to lead activity stations and mentor students throughout the event. Their support helps ensure that students understand not only the challenges of adult responsibilities but also the strength of the community that stands behind them.
