High School: Career Exploration and Investigation
By the time our students reach Batesville High School, they will have a strong educational foundation and a greater understanding of how our community impacts the lives of our citizens.
What is Bulldog Ready at BHS?
Bulldog Ready is personalized, relevant education for each high schooler, no matter their future goal. Bulldog Ready is preparation for a career…and for life. No one path is encouraged more than another, but we have the structure and flexibility to support them all.
Ready for Success
BHS students can prepare for:
- College enrollment (approx. 65% of students)
- Employment (30%)
- Enlistment (5%)
We are equally committed to challenging our college-bound students, preparing those heading straight into the workforce, and supporting students who choose to serve in the military.
Preparation for a Career
- Grade 9
- Freshman Seminar Courses, “Preparing for College and Careers” and “Career Exploration”
- Career interest and personal strength surveys
- Field trips, teacher panels, and career showcases.
- GOAL: Determine which of the pathways and diploma types make sense for each student
- Grades 10-12
- Pathways
- Students follow one of 8 high-quality pathways (one 3-course sequence) in a selected field that includes post-secondary credits, certifications, and support from community partners. All pathways prepare our students for whatever they choose to do next. Pathway interests exist that might appeal more to college-bound students, as well as those going into a trade, getting a job, or enlisting, but all pathways prepare our students for success after high school.
- Courses of Interest
- Students can still take other classes that interest them. There’s a lot of room in the schedule to explore something else.
- Other Diploma or Seal Requirements
- Besides the general diploma, students decide if they’d like to attain a diploma seal for enrollment, employment, or enlistment after BHS.
- Depending on the student’s goal, they may need to take aptitude tests like the ASVAB (military) or college readiness aptitude tests to qualify for their seal. Work-based learning is required for those who want to get a job after BHS.
- Besides the general diploma, students decide if they’d like to attain a diploma seal for enrollment, employment, or enlistment after BHS.

Bulldog Ready!
- Diploma in Hand
- Before earning an Indiana diploma, we expect that all BHS students will qualify for one of the new diploma seals, beginning with the Class of 2028, confirming their readiness for enrollment, employment, or enlistment. In fact, 100% of that class is already on track to earn a seal.
- Ready to Take the Next Step
- Bulldog graduates will have learned what it takes to be a valued and respected community member, no matter where their next step leads them.
