BCSC Hosts Summer Learning Conference for Educators

Splash Into Learning Conference 2022
June 7, 2022

The Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) hosted a Splash into Learning Conference as part of the Indiana Department of Educationā€™s Summer of Learning Grant. Batesville is one of 14 conference host sites across Indiana. Educators from 17 local school corporations attended BCSCā€™s two-day conference. Each day began with a keynote presentation. During the remainder of the day, the attendees chose sessions that focused on digital learning, literacy, STEM, or other educational topics.

Hosting the conference in Batesville provides professional development experiences to educators without traveling far. The dedicated teachers spend two of their summer days ready to learn more to take back to the classroom in the fall. One shared, ā€œThese are always the most beneficial two days of my summer!ā€ They are able to collaborate with and learn from fellow teachers. Fifteen educators from Batesville shared with their colleagues during the concurrent session.

Throughout the summer, each host site will present the Candice Dodson Award to memorialize the life and work of this former state leader who passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2020. Candice worked tirelessly to enhance and support digital learning for teachers and students nationally and especially in the state of Indiana. The recipient of the Candice Dodson Award reflects Candiceā€™s lifelong love of learning and an unparalleled desire to enhance and promote the use of technology in education. The winner of the award at the Batesville Conference was BCSCā€™s own Jackie Huber, the Director of Instructional Technology Curriculum.
