Does protecting society and keeping people safe appeal to you? The criminal justice concentration may be a good fit.
This criminal justice program introduces students to the three main areas of the justice system: law enforcement, courts, and corrections, focusing on their functions, history, and interactions. Students learn about the correctional system, covering topics like sentencing, rehabilitation, prisoner rights, and community-based alternatives. They also study criminology theories, exploring why crimes happen and how these theories shape law enforcement practices. The program includes hands-on training in criminal investigation, evidence collection, traffic control, and courtroom procedures, mirroring real world law enforcement standards. Tools like crash reconstruction software and tactical training simulations help students build practical skills in analysis, communication, and public relations.
