Title I Services

Title I is a federal program that provides supplementary funding for eligible students who qualify for services based on academic performance. The Title I program at BCSC serves students in kindergarten through third grade who demonstrate a need for extra assistance in reading. Student eligibility in the Title I program is based on standardized test scores from mClass, NWEA, and ILEARN (grade 3 only).

The Title I program provides students with extra support above and beyond the regular classroom and uses research-based best practices to meet the needs of students. A focus on early intervention is critical. Students in grades kindergarten through third grade receive an additional 30-45 minutes of reading or math instruction three-four days a week during the school day.

The purpose of offering these services is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.
