The Week Ahead: May16-20

Good afternoon! BIS students had a wonderful week of outdoor fun with Field Day activities and Chalk the Walk for Children.  Thank you to all parent volunteers who spent time with us this week!  Our social media accounts are up and running again…if you are on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter you can find pictures.

It’s hard to believe we have reached the final full week of the 2021-22 school year!  As a reminder, the last student day is next Thursday, May 26.  We will spend time wrapping up grade-level curriculum expectations and testing this week.  Here’s what you need to know for the week ahead:

  • Allied Arts this week:
    • MONDAY: Red
    • TUESDAY: Yellow
    • WEDNESDAY: Green
    • THURSDAY: Blue
    • FRIDAY: Red
  • You do not want to miss the Family Fun Night happening at BIS this Tuesday from 5-7pm.  There will be activities available for the entire fam  Visit booths throughout the entire school and have an enjoyable night celebrating the end of an unforgettable year.  Check out the flyer here (Spanish version here).
  • Walk to School Day is this Wednesday, May 18 at 7:00am.  If your child is participating, we must have a permission slip on file.  All students can be dropped off at Liberty Park.
  • Menu change for Thursday, May 19: Country fried steak will be served instead of Salisbury steak.
  • Have you noticed the beautiful butterflies adorning the planters throughout town?  Our annual “Flutter Around Town” event is back!  Check out BIS student artwork all through Batesville this week.  If you would like to bid on one of the beautiful garden stakes, the silent auction will take place next Saturday, May 21 at the Batesville Farmer’s Market from 8-11am.  This event has become a BIS tradition; the unique garden stakes make a great keepsake or gift!
  • We are excited to welcome Kevin Stonerock back to BIS this week to visit our 4th grade classes with the program, “A Visit with a Hoosier Pioneer”.  Thank you to BAAC for funding yet another opportunity for our kids.
  • The state of Indiana requires all current 5th graders to receive the Tdap and MCV4 vaccines prior to the start of 6th grade in the fall. The Margaret Mary Occupational Health and Wellness Center administers childhood vaccines in their immunization clinic. The clinic is located across from Kroger behind First Financial Bank. Hours are Monday 7:30am to 6:00pm and Tuesday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30pm. Please call 812-932-5105 for an appointment.
