PTO Volunteer Information & Form

What is PTO?

PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. Our mission is to promote open communication and understanding between the parents and staff of Batesville Primary School (BPS).

The BPS PTO in the past has met the first Tuesday of every month. The meetings have been held at BPS at 5:30. Please see school newsletter or website for specific dates and times. We encourage all parents to come to the monthly meetings. The more input and participation we receive from parents the better our school and organization. We are currently seeking board members of the 2017 / 2018 school year.

If you cannot attend meetings but still want to help your child and the PTO, a volunteer sign-up sheet will be sent home with students at the beginning of next school year. Even if you can only help at one event for one hour, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

For more information on the PTO, go to the school’s website under Parents – PTO or like us on Facebook.

How does PTO help Batesville Primary School students?

* Walk – A- Thon Celebration & Prizes
* Bottled Water for All Field Trips
* Monetary Assistance for Reading Tutors
* $4.00 gift certificate towards Scholastic Book Fair
* Monetary Assistance with Century Club Celebration

How does the PTO raise funds to sponsor events?

The PTO raises money with one major fundraiser and then uses smaller, ancillary fundraisers throughout the year.

Walk –A- Thon – September 5th. Parent’s are invited to attend to walk with their child. Please click here for a donation receipt.

Our largest fundraiser is the annual Walk-A-Thon. The Walk is held every year in September. The students of BPS are encouraged to ask their family, neighbors, and family friends for monetary donations. All monetary donations go to the projects or events mentioned above. To make the Walk fun for the students, each classroom walks laps out by the playground for thirty minutes. On the walking path, there is a table set up with buckets. Each bucket has a teacher’s name and picture on it. Each time the student makes a lap, they are given one ticket to put in a teacher’s bucket. The top three teacher’s with the most tickets gets a pie in the face at the student convocation. In the past, the students really enjoying putting tickets in the buckets. Traditionally, the top three vote getters have been: Principal, Gym Teacher, Librarian, and a few teachers. Our yearly goal is to raise $10,000.

Holiday Ornaments

Every year the PTO has a handcrafted wood ornament, made from Batesville’s own Tim Weberding, available for students, families, and teacher to purchase. These ornaments make a great keepsake for the students. The ornaments are available for purchase in the school office and at the 1st and 2nd grade Holiday concert in December. Quantities are limited so please make sure you purchase your ornament as soon as they become available.
