Fine Arts

Batesville Middle School offers a comprehensive fine arts program.  Students will complete a twelve-week rotation in Computer Technology during both their 7th & 8th grade years.  All 7th grade students will complete a 12-week rotation in Art and General Music, while the 8th grade curriculum includes Industrial Technology and Family & Consumer Science. The middle school fine art department also offers elective courses in the following areas:  Art, Industrial Technology, Family & Consumer Science, Beginning Guitar and Computer Information Exploration.

Students at BMS can develop their vocal musicianship by taking choir in 6th, 7th or 8th grade.  Each course teaches the skills necessary to read and perform music.  Through vocal technique and music reading lessons, students are prepared to show their mastery of these skills at performances held throughout the year.  These performances may be in solo, ensemble, or mixed choral groups.  Participation in these groups not only provides students with the opportunity to read and understand music, but also to develop self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, self-motivation, skills of problem-solving and critical thinking.
